Getting ready for the track season is no quick task. It takes a lot of conditioning, practice, sweat and strife. In part of training for the soon to start track meets, the 56 Annual Davis High Track Invitational kicks off the season in a big way.
The meet is open to all athletes of all classifications. The invitational is a great way to provide an opportunity for the best athletes in Utah and surrounding states to meet in head-to-head competition. Sophomore, Katie Wright said, “[the event] is a big competitions between the schools we want to go against. We go hard, and our coaches make sure to push us as far as we can go.”
There are two sessions; the morning or Open Session, which will be limited to the next 40-60 top athletes entered depending on the event–then the afternoon invited session. Athletes can compete in both sessions, broadening their chances of taking home a winning title. “After winning, you’re exhausted. Your emotions are going full speed, but it’s the best feeling in the world.” said Wright.
Here at Davis, pride is taken in our track team and the Dart Invitational is a great opportunity to show off the track teams pride, as well as how hard the athletes work.
