Nationally ranked Taylor Cox runs to Weber on scholarship

Just as the song in Disney’s Movie, Tangled, “I Have a Dream,” Senior Taylor Cox has a dream of a college scholarship, something which recently became a reality when she was offered a full ride track scholarship to Weber State University.

“Ever since I started running, I’ve always had a dream to get a scholarship for college and to use it to help me get through school,” said Cox, “My mom ran [at Weber] in college, so I always grew up hearing her stories about running, and [running at Weber on a scholarship] has always just been a dream. Then in high school I’ve kind of had it has a goal and have been working towards it. It’s nice to see all the hard work paying off.”

Her scholarship was awarded due to all her track accomplishments and achievements during high school. Many of these were not easy for Cox, but now that she has been offered a scholarship for all her hard work, she can see her efforts paying off. “It’s been a lot of hard work and a lot of pushing myself and so it’s really nice to see all of it paying off. It’s really rewarding,” said Cox.

Deciding to go to Weber was a difficult decision for Cox, even though accepting the scholarship offer would fulfill her dream. “I had a few offers from some other good schools, so it was kind of hard to decide which one to take, but Weber took good care of me. I’m really excited for it,” said Cox.

With her scholarship to Weber, Cox hopes to fulfill her career dreams as well and either go into the sports medication, sports psychology, radiology, or physical therapy fields.
