The Davis golf team went into the region tournament playing really good. Since Cole Ponich was invited to the juinor Ryder Cup, so he wasn’t able to be able to play with the team for region. It would hurt to not have their best player to help them but it turned out they didn’t need him to get into state. Mathew Greenland said “It would be really cool to win region and would be a great expierence.” He later went on to say “We have a good team this year and It has been a really fun.” Davis will go in and try to win back to back state championships.

State this year will take even more then it did last year. Mathew says “The players will have to really focus and try to hit the right shots” he adds “the players will have to make good decisions with their shots and exicute their shots.” Going back to back in state is going to be very hard but they got the davis community behind them cheering them on.

They have had a good year this year and not a huge surprise that they made it to state. Cole Ponich will be looking to lead them to his 2nd state championship and add another ring to his collection. Most of the team from last year is back with the exception with the kids that went to Farmington. Davis golf will have a good time competing for state. In the region tournament Preston Wallace shot the best score from Davis with shooting a 75. Cole Ponich, Jack Sargent, Coleman Cook, Preston Wallace, McKay Cook, and Alex Yu are going to represent our team in the state tournament, with Bradley Yu qualifying as an individual to play in State.
