Cole Ponich last years defending State Champion had to bounce back from what was for him a touch first day.

“Going into the last couple of holes of day 2, I thought that we would have the win locked.” Cole Ponich shot 2 under the first day and didn’t think it was his best and came out day 2 birding the last couple holes to take him to 3 under on that day and 5 under on the tournament.

This week was the state golf tournament held at TalonsCove Golf Course. Davis had a successful couple of days and were really close to putting together back to back state championships. Even though they were unsuccessful it all they still managed to take 2nd place.

Coleman Cook had a shakey first day but came back strong on the 2nd day and shot even. The team wanted it really bad but they just came up short to Lone Peak. They beat Lone Peak last year to win state, and Lone Peak came back and wanted revenge and got it with their win this year. Cole got back from the Jr Ryder Cup and went straight into the state championship.

It was a really good couple days for the younger kids on the team to see what it takes to get to state and have a chance to win state. The older guys set the example and the bar for the younger kids. For the next couple years they will be the ones leading the team.
