D’Ettes make it to State

Davis High School’s drill team, the D’Ettes has come out with positive attitudes from their state and region drill competitions.

“It was different, but we just wanted to have fun, that was our number one goal. Region was a bigger deal than State,” said senior Kylee Malstead.

The girls did three different dances, each one with different dance styles. They did a military, dance, and character style dances. Each one had a different motion of dancing to it and had a different impact on the team members.

“The character dance was our baby throughout the year,” said junior Libby Fowler. Their character dance was Mary Poppins Step in Time.

The competition between the other teams at state wasn’t much different from previous years, some of the girls said. They would give the other teams good luck gifts before the performance and they all supported each other when they performed.

The team is content with where they ended up after state, and are just happy that they made it to state and had fun.
