My Top Music Artists of 2020

My+Top+Music+Artists+of+2020

After a long catastrophic year known as 2020, it ended the way any other year has ended for me: with a notification from Spotify, the music streamer.

Notified under you’re 2020 wrapped up, Spotify shows you your top genre, top 5 artists, top 5 songs, and how many minutes in total listened to in the year.

In the year 2020 I had my most listened to minutes in a year ever, coming in at 52,675 minutes listened to through Spotify. I think my number was the highest in 2020 due to Covid-19. With all the soft closures and quarantines there wasn’t much to do.

Now note that I also have SoundCloud, Apple Music, and YouTube. I do majority of my music streaming on Spotify, but combined I most likely exceed over 70,000 minutes listened in the year 2020. Too give you an idea of just how much that is, there are 525,600 minutes in a year.

Next it showed the genre of music I most listened to in the year. Not surprised that it came out to be rap. Now rap isn’t my favorite style of music, but it’s definitely the genre I most listen to. It’s easier to play music everybody likes when I’m chilling with the homies or cruising around town.

Coming in at number one of my top five listened to artists of the year 2020 is Cigarettes After Sex followed by Tyga, Chris Brown, 21 Savage, and Lil Peep. All are very uniquely styled Artists with their own wave and vibe that they ride. None are very close in style of music including Chris Brown and Tyga even though they Collab a lot.

Besides one of the top five songs, the other four did not contain any songs from my top artists of the year strangely. Sunsetz by Cigarettes After Sex would be that one, but coming in at number three on the list.

My number one song listened to was Doubt by Twenty One Pilots, number two Airplane Mode by Bones, number four To Whom It May Concern by Ghostmane, and number five, being the most random/surprising to me Come Around by Darci.

To wrap this up I will end with these words: it was a very strange year and it even showed in my music.
