When Hocus Pocus first came out in the 90’s, it wasn’t an instant hit. It may be because it was released in mid-July, but during the spooky season, it was a hit. Making over $45.4 million since released and even 8.2 million views since then.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, Hocus Pocus is the most viewed Halloween movie of all time, making it a family favorite. Hocus Pocus 2 is a super fun, family-friendly film and is the perfect sequel to the classic film. It’s nostalgic to anyone who watched it growing up, especially if you grew up in the 90’s when it first came out.

“I loved that they used the original witches in the movie and didn’t recast any of them. That made it even more nostalgic for me.” Camille Beckstrand replied.

If you grew up with Hocus Pocus then you’re sure to know Winnifred “Winnie” Sanderson, played by Bette Midler, Mary Sanderson, played by Kathy Najimy, and finally, Sarah Sanderson, played by Sarah Jessica Parker. Also known as the iconic Sanderson sister’s trio.

“The thing I loved most was that by the end of the movie they realized the most important thing wasn’t their powers, it’s about being together.” Shelisa Pinson commented.

Hocus Pocus 2 in summary is about 3 high school friends who receive a “witchcraft” candle to practice their spells, only to find out that when they light it, it’s the Black Flame candle which then brings the Sanderson sisters back to life for one night, until dusk arrives.

The girls have a big problem on their hands, because instantly the Sanderson sisters are very hungry and are looking for young children to eat. Well, obviously not wanting to be eaten, the 3 high school girls do everything in their power to keep the witches under control.

“The part at the end when Winnie sparkled away and joined her sisters was so sad and I literally started bawling my eyes out.” Keslee Pinson said.

Their night is filled with lots of frights and laughs, entertaining the audience to the fullest. I honestly enjoyed this movie and thought it was a great way to bring the Sanderson sisters back. I would recommend this movie to anyone who is having a Halloween movie night with their family, friends or even by yourself for your own pleasure.

Now since you’ve read this review, it is your turn to go watch it, and see it for yourself!
