Teenagers and Driving Can Be Scary

Teens are some of the worst drivers on the road. Not only do teens not have very much experience, but they also get distracted easily. Any new driver thinks they can juggle doing multiple things at once, but when someone is driving on the roads that is all they should be focusing on.

“I don’t know how people can text and drive at the same time when driving itself is so challenging,” sophomore Elli Cheney said.

There are so many ways for a teen to get distracted while driving. One of these ways is by having friends in the car. Imagine trying to follow along and listen to a story at the same time as watching what is in front, behind, and on both sides of a car, as well as watching out for hazards on the road.

“It’s going to be really hard to not drive with my friends in the car,” sophomore Kylie Keller said.
Another way teens get distracted on the road is with their phone. This is extremely dangerous, not only for the driver doing this, but also for everyone around them. Everyone should turn off their phones while they are driving and put them out of sight, where there is no temptation to look at them.

“[Teenagers] are young, careless and stupid,” sophomore Jet Stagg said.

Teenage drivers are still getting the hang of things on the road. Parents need to try and enforce rules with their student drivers to keep everyone safe. With so many hazards on the road, try and stay safe while driving.
