Carly Oldroyd looks to lead girls golf

Carly Oldroyd has played golf ever since she was little. She got really serious with it      her ninth grade year. She has been on the high school team since her freshmen year at   Davis High School.

In 2009, Oldroyd’s freshmen year, her fellow teammate and friend Katherine Ashby shot a stellar 7-over 79, scoring her team 84 points, at Glen Eagle golf course. Oldroyd shot a solid 84 scoring her team 78 points. Ashby and Oldroyd led the Davis girls to their first State Championship.

Oldroyd practices everyday for two to three hours. Her two favorite courses are Oakridge Country Club in Farmington and Sand Hollow Resort in St. George. Her best 9-hole score was a 35, and a 74 for 18-holes.

Oldroyd has Taylormade R11 irons and a Taylormade Superfast driver. Her favorite club is her 7-iron because it is her most consistent club. She also uses an Odyssey putter.

Oldroyd said, “Good realy good, we won our first tournament by a ton at Glen Eagle against Region 1.

Oldroyd said, “Being able to get to know the girls and play the sport I love has been the best part.”

Oldroyd said, her dad has helped out the most with her golf game, he has taught her everything.

Her favorite golfer is Rory Mcilroy. Oldroyd’s goal is to shoot under par this season.

The girls started out the season really well with a dominating performance at Glen Eagle vs. Region 1.
