This years basketball
The Davis high basketball team over the years has been a dominant high school team being coached by Chad Sims and assistant coach being Todd Street so far the darts are off to a 2-0 start after beating west Jordan 69-50 with the highest scorer being Coleman Atwater having 20 points with 55% field goal attempts being made. Zach Fisher also had an outstanding game having 17 points shooting 54% on all his shots. Both Coleman and Zach played a combined of 54 minutes of the game. They also have beat the Copper Hills Bears 79-60 with the high of 18 points was Ike Morgan a senior.
The Darts First loss
Davis Lost there first game this season to the Pleasant Grove Vikings 80-83 having a amazing shooting night for Zach fisher going 10 for 10 on field goals shooting 100% on all of his shots. The darts were supposed to win this matchup but got upset being this early In the season Davis still has a good chance of coming back into the lead of the ranking like in past years. Davis Plays Highland on Friday this week at the home of the darts. This year highland has the same record as the darts being 2-1 this should be a very close matchup but the way the darts have been in the past shows that Coach Sims isn’t going to take that first lose of the season very lightly.
Rough Start
Davis Lost another game this last Friday to Highland high school this was a tough beat because that is now 2 losses in a row and will hurt the darts in the ranking luckly region play hasn’t started yet and Davis still has lots of chances to bounce back. The Game was very low scoring having the final score be 36-30 for Highland the highest score for the darts was bode Sparrow a freshman this year with a total of 7 points that being the highest scorer for the darts shows how low scoring the game was. Hopefully the darts can bounce back next week to go against box elder.
Asking The Players Questions
We asked Gavin Pearce what the most exciting thing is about being on the team and he responded with just mainly being with all of the players and being a family. Seeing the student section show up always helps and makes the team want to work harder every play. We also asked him what are we going to do to improve how we play in future game he said that we will work what we have been bad in practice mainly 3s because against highland the team has been missing lots of big time shots.
