Sterling Scholar details announced

Daphne Kelly, Editor

The Sterling Scholar program has been extended to accommodate new categories.  The total number of categories is now fourteen.  The performance categories have been sub-divided to differentiate between artistic disciplines.  The Foreign Language category is now called World Languages and includes ASL.

Ms. Anderson Mrs. Cross share the duties of working with our Sterling Scholars to prepare portfolios and prep for interviews.  For the second year in a row, the portfolios will be submitted entirely online.  Last year, every single one of our Sterling Scholars was chosen to proceed in the competition beyond the initial portfolio submission phase.
Interested students are encouraged to attend one of the informational meetings which will be held during lunch in Ms. Anderson’s room.  The first is Thursday, 10 October and the second is Tuesday, 22 October.  Applications will be due to either Ms. Anderson or Mrs. Cross by Wednesday, 6 November.  A master list of applicants will be distributed to the department chairs the following Friday, 8 November. Ms. King will be holding auditions for the Dance Sterling Scholar on 11 November and all departments are asked to make their decisions by Friday, November 15 so candidates can be announced.
